Why do you require my eBay UserId and password?
In order for eBay to recognize you under our program, eBay must generate a token for you on our site. When you register with us, you can use the link to be sent to eBay where you will log in and a token will be generated.
What is a token and why do I need one?
To protect your eBay account, instead of sharing your username and password with third party sites, like Auctionpix, eBay only shares an identifying ‘token’ which we store in our database. This token is a unique identifier assigned and controlled by eBay that allows Auctionpix to perform operations on your behalf. The eBay token essentially makes the Auctionpix session behave as if it were you signed into your eBay account. Any time you want to perform an operation using Auctionpix that requires contact with the eBay system, such as submitting a listing, you need to have a token.
What happens when I generate a token?
When you click the "eBay Token" link, you are redirected to the eBay sign-in screen. eBay requests that you specifically agree to let them share necessary information from your eBay account with Auctionpix.co.uk for Auctionpix functions.
When you click on "Agree and Continue," eBay assigns the token and you are switched back to the Auctionpix web site with your eBay identity linked.
Below is the text of the agreement:
In order to fulfill your request to use Auctionpix.co.uk on eBay, we need to give Auctionpix access to some information about you. This information will be encrypted in a way that Auctionpix will only be able to use it to perform the following functions on your behalf:
- Display the status of items I sell.
- Information that is currently available in the selling section of My eBay.
- List new items for sale, relist items, sell similar items, or make a second chance offers.
- Perform item listing actions on my behalf using tools similar to Sell Your Item, etc .
- Add to item description or revise items for sale.
- Perform revisions or additions to item listings on my behalf similar to Revise Your Item.
- Leave feedback or display my feedback.
- Perform feedback actions on my behalf such as leaving feedback or display my feedback.
For your security and protection, eBay requires your explicit consent before we will transfer any eBay transaction information to third parties. eBay strongly encourages you to read Auctionpix.co.uk's Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy as their use of your eBay transaction information is controlled by those policies, and is not directly controlled by eBay.
Regenerating your eBay Token
It is possible that the token required by Auctionpix to perform actions on eBay, on your behalf could become invalidated. When this happens you will need to regenerate the token for your account. Click on the "Relogin" link on the welcome page to start the regeneration process. You will be presented with the eBay sign-in screen. After you sign in to eBay, eBay asks for your explicit consent to the sharing of the information. Once you click on the "Agree and Continue" button, the token is created and you are switched back to Auctionpix
